UPDATE JANUARY 2016:  Sweet DeMarb LLC has been honored yet again!  They are headed to Palm Beach Florida in early February 2016 for the M&A Advisor Awards.

Sweet DeMarb LLC is proud to announce that for the third year in a row, its attorneys have been nationally recognized for their superior results by receiving a national award from their peers.

James D. Sweet and Rebecca R. DeMarb have been chosen to receive the 2015 National Transaction of the Year Award: Small Company award, presented by the Turnaround Management Association (TMA).  The award will be presented to them at the national meeting of the TMA to be held on October 6, 2015, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The award recognizes Sweet DeMarb’s work on transactions that rehabilitated TMA Photo - AZand then sold the business and assets of LongVANS, Inc., a construction trailer leasing company based in Freedom, Wisconsin, along with the assets of 13 of its related companies.  The case matter was handled without a bankruptcy or receivership filing, and highlights how Sweet DeMarb effectively represents clients to rehabilitate their companies and sell their assets without any kind of court proceeding.

Together with Harney Management Partners, LLC, from Chicago and Austin, Texas, Sweet DeMarb worked to sell thousands of assets owned by 12 related companies that were located in four Midwestern states.  The assets had been pledged to secure the claims of seven different banks and lessors, along with multiple other creditors of the companies.

As a result of their efforts, Sweet DeMarb and Harney were able to repay in full all of the banks and lessors, all of LongVANS’ vendors and other creditors, and saved about 75 jobs that would have been lost if the company had closed.  In addition the owners will receive a substantial distribution later this year when escrow is broken.

In 2013, Sweet DeMarb’s attorneys were nationally recognized by M&A Advisors, Inc., for their successful reorganization and partial sale of Wick Building Systems, Inc., of Mazomanie, Wisconsin, based on a confirmed chapter 11 Plan approved in 2012.  In 2014, Sweet DeMarb was nationally recognized for its swift and successful chapter 11 reorganization of Madison, Wisconsin-based Anchor Bancorp by M&A Advisors
